Most popular hosting control panels allow you to back up your website and database in just a few clicks. This is especially useful for users who prefer not to set up backups manually via terminal. In this article, we’ll look at how to create a website backup using ISPmanager, cPanel, Plesk, and other systems.
Backup in ISPmanager
- Log in to ISPmanager panel
- Go to Tools → Backups
- Click “Create backup” and select what to save (entire account or specific site)
- Specify the storage directory or external FTP
- Wait for the process to finish — the backup will be available for download
Website Backup in cPanel
- Go to the Backup section
- Choose “Download a Full Account Backup” or create a partial backup (domains, databases, mail)
- Select the delivery method (email, FTP, local)
- Click “Generate Backup” — the file will be available for download later
Backup in Plesk
- Log in to Plesk and open the desired domain
- Go to Tools & Settings → Backup Manager
- Choose full or incremental backup
- You can set up automatic upload to FTP/S3
- Restore is available from the same panel
Backup Tips
- Make backups before CMS, plugin, or PHP updates
- Keep at least 3 recent copies
- Use external storage for reliability
- Test restore on a staging environment if possible
