🚫 VPS Not Booting — How to Recover Your Server
If your VPS won’t start, it may be due to operating system issues, bootloader corruption, disk overload, or a damaged file system. In this guide, we’ll walk you through diagnosing and restoring your VPS using VMmanager or manual console access.
🔍 Common Reasons Why VPS Fails to Boot
- ❌ Bootloader errors (e.g., GRUB is broken or missing)
- 📛 OS failure after updates or software installation
- 💽 Full disk or damaged disk blocks
- 🔐 Incorrect permissions on system folders (like /boot or /etc)
- 🛡 Infinite reboot loop due to a bad kernel
🛠 Recovering VPS via VMmanager
- 1️⃣ Log into VMmanager and select your VPS
- 2️⃣ Go to the Console section for direct terminal access
- 3️⃣ If bootloader errors appear — mount a LiveCD ISO (e.g., Ubuntu Resque or SystemRescue)
- 4️⃣ Use the console to mount disks, run
fsck
, or reinstall GRUB withgrub-install
- 5️⃣ If recovery fails — reinstall the OS with the same IP (don’t forget to back up your data first)
📌 What If You Have No Access at All?
If the console is unavailable too, check the server status in your panel or contact support. This might indicate a hypervisor failure or resource limits (like IOPS or disk quota).
